Liebe Hörerinnen, liebe Hörer

Es geschieht immer wieder, dass ich beim Zusammenstellen der Musik auf CDs und LPs stosse, die schon lange nicht mehr verwendet wurden weil sie am falschen Ort abgelegt oder versteckt waren. So bin ich bei der Vorbereitung für diese Sendung auf drei CDs gestossen. „Endless Avenue – direction Nashville“, produziert vom Schweizer Ernst Eggenberger und herausgegeben von BRAMBUS, die ich irgendwann in den 90er Jahren erstanden hatte und unter „Dixie und Big Band“ abgelegt hatte. Diese CD enthält Music von Sängerinnen und Sängern deren Namen mir nicht bekannt waren. „OurKind’a Country mit Sheila G. White und Blueberry Hill” fand ich an einem Trödlerstand an der Regent Street in Great Yarmouth,an der wind-verblasenen Küste von Südost England. Über die Jahre hat sich dieses ehemalige Fischerdorf zu einer Feriendestination entwickelt mit Boardwalk und allerlei Jahr- marktstimmung. Nicht weit von dort besuchten wir viele „Big Band Bashes“ = „Big Band Treffen“ in Pontin’sVacation-Resort in Pakefield oder im Leisure Resort Potters in Hopton on Sea. Ganz anders verhielt es sich mit „Dialing On ThatTelephone“ von John Brack und Bjøro Håland. Wir besuchten die Nachmittagsvorstellung in der „GrandOl‘ Opry“ in Opryland USA, Nashville und sahen und hörten diesen sympathischen Sänger aus Norwegen. Ein paar Wochen später sprach ich John Brack auf Bjøro an und erfuhr, dass sie eine gemeinsame CD in Produktion hatten. Ergänzt mit instrumentalen Standard ergab sich eine weitere abwechslungsreiche Show mit Country Memories. Hören Sie zu und versuchen Sie aufzuzählen wie viele Sie davon kennen!

Dear Country Music Fans

It happens often when I start putting music for a program together that I find CDs or LPs that either were registered under a wrong genre or that  I had simply forgotten that I have it. So it was with “Endless Avenue – direction Nashville” produced in the 90s by Swiss producer Ernst Eggenberger and published by Brambus,a Swiss Music Publisher. This CD includes music by singers whose names were unknown to me. “Our Kind’a Country” with Sheila G. White and the Blueberry Hill struck my ears as we were strolling down Regent Street in Great Yarmouth in South East England. We used to visit “Big Band Bashes” at Pontin’s, Pakefield and at Potters at Hopton on Sea from where we took day time excursions to nearby Great Yarmouth, a former fisher town turning into a vacation resort with weekly markets and boardwalk activities. On a vaca-tion trip to Nashville and beyond, we visited an afternoon performance of the Grand Ol’ Opry at Opryland USA and enjoyed amongst the old stars a new comer from Norway; Bjøro Håland. Back in Switzerland a few weeks later I mention Bjøro to John Brack and learned that the two had a joint venture going, which was soon to be released. So, combined with instrumental standards by well-known Nashville recording artists developed another Show of “Country Memories”. Tune in and find out how many of these “old” songs you’ve known all along!
